Guanshan Hongshi Trail

The Guanshan Hongshi Trail used to be called 888 Acacia Forest Trail. It connects the areas around Guanshan, Hongshi Village, Kanding and Fengquan, formerly an important lumbering and charcoal-making region on the southeast side of the Central Mountain Range. The unspoiled natural environment and the remoteness make it a wonderful location for bird watchers. So far, two sections have been repaired. The first one measuring around 800 meters can be accessed from the trailhead of Datonglu Trail near Provincial Highway 9. It zigzags up hill and connects to a forest road which motor vehicles can travel on. The second one starts from the 3.5km mark of the forest road. It is paved with wooden steps and visitors can walk in deep mountains to enjoy a forest bath before returning to the forest road at the 4.7km mark. From the hiking trail going uphill, one can see the entire Guanshan Town and beautiful mountain views. It is a trail suitable for family outings.
