The trail between Taiping Mountain and Nanhubeishan includes 2 parts, the one between Taiping Mountain and Lake Jialo (known as the Taijia Stretch) and the one between Lake Jialo and Nanhubeishan. Nanhushan and Lake Jialo are located on the main peak of the Central Cordillera to the north of Jililuoe Mountain, with the edge line linking Nanhudashan to the south and Taiping Mountain and Sanxing Mountain to the northeast. Lake Jialo is near the Jialo mountains, of which 18 have been named. A major forest fire in 1999 claimed some 50 hectares of woods in this area, but led to a remarkable discovery: Lake Jialo may be a type of marl swamp produced during the Ice Age. Marl swamps are usually found in Finland, Canada and Ireland. They make up 3% of the earth's land mass.
The section between Mountain Jialohu and Nanhubeishan is a demanding trail as it passes by Jililuoe Mountain (2,492m), Xiwulan Mountain (2,625m), Fatu Mountain (2,857m), Batunofu Mountain (3,167m) and Nanhubeishan (3,536m). The trail is located between 2,250m~3,500m in elevation, where the flora consists mainly of broad-leaved coniferous trees of a mixed type.
